villa igang is one of the many smaller and secluded resorts up in the northern part of the municipality of nueva valencia in the island of guimaras. the great thing about this resort is it's serenity and peacefulness and the beach front is sorrounded by mountains extending into the sea, so the northern winds are blocked off and the shore doesn’t get pounded by huge waves. not only that, it has a cave that welcomes you the open sea upon entering. great formation of rocks and crystal clear water awaits you. huts or cottages can be rented for Php500 per day (with two beds) or go for the aircon ones which is Php900 per day. island hopping is also available in the resort, 400 pesos for the first hour and 150 pesos for the next succeeding hour, destinations are: pawikan sanctuary, baras beach, abe maria island, bat cave, and seafdec.

originally, malakha resort. a small yet silent and beautiful resort in roxas. it has a beautiful entrance, it feels like welcoming you with open hearts, the banners signifies fun and the pavillion makes you feel home. the cottages were nice and accommodating. if you're planning to visit the resort you must have your set of utensils and you can bring food with you. the swimming pool has a slide for kids and it ranges from 4 to 6 feet. :) a perfect place if you want to solo the pool since guests rarely do visit. enjoy and have fun in puente acuna in ivisan!

Riverside Resort

riverside beach resort, oton, iloilo, philippines

basically, it is called riverside beach resort because it is the intersection of the river and the beach in oton, iloilo. cottages ranging from 150 and above are available here. picnic would be the best suggestion of the place. we ate talaba and bay-ad where we bought it in the proper of oton, i would say it's very delicious! i almost ate 80% of the share since my friends are busy swimming. many jellyfish swim on the water... but it's okay, just catch them in your plastic paper and free them when you stop swimming! you can also fly kite in there! i even bought with me a piece of stone which serves as my lugod. a great place in iloilo, different from the dirty beach in villa.

Balaan Bukid Shrine

brgy. hoskyn, guimaras, philippines

balaan bukid is a landmark in guimaras known for being a pilgrimage site of catholic devotees especially during the holy week. alongside the trail to the top are 14 stations called “Way of the Cross,” which depicts significant events in the life of Jesus Christ. catholics visit balaan bukid to be reminded of the suffering Jesus gone through to save mankind. along the way you get to see 14 stations depicting Jesus' sacrifice, and you will experience a thrilling sacrifice too in getting in to the peak of the shrine, this is also one great adventure for backpackers, im sure. the gigantic cross greets the trekkers that marks the shrine of Ave Maria Purisima, a small chapel atop the holy mountain.

it's a tiring, diaphoretic but great trek i had with my friends (nene, tan and manuel) ... we enjoyed the scenic and panoramic view of iloilo city on the top and realized how small boats were! it's my first time to visit the place (december 19, 2009) and i would love to go back there on holy week!
